Refurbished Equipment Supports Cost Cutting and Green IT Initiatives During Global Recession
Singapore – May 9, 2009 – Network Hardware Resale (NHR), the leading provider of pre-owned and new networking equipment, reports that Australian companies continue to invest in second-hand equipment to cut network costs during the economic downturn. NHR’s sales in Australia have risen 25 percent in the first quarter of 2009 compared to the same period last year.According to Glenn Fassett, general manager of Network Hardware Resale’s Asia-Pacific operations, the global recession has put an emphasis on cost containment, for large as well as mid-sized enterprises. “Our customers are focused on prioritising their IT spending, and pre-owned equipment provides a cost-effective alternative for network infrastructure,” he says. “Our Australian customers average 67 percent discounts, stretching their budgets 27 percent beyond the average 40 percent-off-list prices offered by OEMs.”
- A recent survey conducted by Gartner found that IT infrastructure continues to be the leading area of investment among Australian and New Zealand organisations. The survey also found that green IT and projects addressing operation efficiency are among top concerns.
