Gartner Data Center Event Highlights: How to Stay on Budget and Innovate

The best solutions require asking the right questions. Questions like, “How do you do more with less?” Three years ago, we talked with attendees at this same event. Pressure on resources, budgets, and the need to innovate were top-of-mind, but third-party maintenance was barely on their radar. They didn’t know to ask.

Beginning with our first presentation (asking the question, “How do you do more with less?”), our sessions are the most highly attended of the conferences. In addition, Gartner has not only officially recognized TPM as a market, but it also published half a dozen papers in 2017 alone reviewing TPM as a solution for various needs—from storage to data center and networking.¹

The benefits of TPM have definitely been gaining ground. At our talk this year, more than half of the hands in the audience raised when our Chief Product Officer Mark Nichols asked, “How many of you use or have heard of third-party maintenance?” According to analysts, TPM was utilized by 71% of Fortune 100 customers as a form of support in their environments in 2016.

Since we can’t predict the future, Mark Nichols’ presentation looked to the past. It illustrated a 10-year view into a typical middle to upper-middle enterprise’s traditional buying journey with scheduled manufacturer upgrades for its IT environment. That 10-year journey was compared side-by-side to an alternative path and what that would look like from a budget perspective. The cost difference is staggering and the attendees were listening.

Highlights from the talk include:

  • How to prepare for emerging new technology
  • Learning how to optimize your IT environment and keep your dependable IT assets working by extending your product lifecycle
  • Consolidating all of your support contracts into one for flexibility and efficiency
  • How to reduce your organization’s capital and operating IT infrastructure expenditures without negatively impacting performance
  • How to allocate those savings (50-90%) to business innovation and new technology that will positively impact the growth of your business

And just in case you weren’t able to make it to the presentation, we’re offering a limited viewing of Mark’s session above. To learn more, please give it a watch or reach out to one of our representatives today.
